Generous tenants raise thousands
Staff and tenants from Market Hill, Scunthorpe, have raised over £2,200 for charity during the last year.
With events such as Easter, Summer & Christmas raffles, name the polar bear and teddy, a fun day and a cake sale, the Concierge Team and residents have raised £2,213.53.
This will be split between Macmillan Cancer Support and Help for Heroes.
As well as residents donating prizes for the raffles, local businesses also got involved. This year Clive Smith Butchers donated a meat voucher and Cook & Co donated a vegetable box voucher.
Each year the tenants nominate charities they wish to support then events are held to raise as much money as possible. For 2016 money will be raised for NSPCC and Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Barry Hammond from the Concierge Team said: “It’s great to see so many of our tenants coming together to raise money for such wonderful causes. There is a real community spirit here at Market Hill and by raising so much money each year we are sharing that same spirit with others.
“The residents donate lots of lovely things for the raffles and tombolas throughout the year and local businesses have also got involved too. We could not do any of this without them so thank you.”
Fundraising started at Market Hill in 2010 and since then £5,500 has been collected for charity.
