Over 60 people attended a Christmas light switch at The Arc in Westcliff on Friday 7 December.

The afternoon began with free hot chocolate and included festive themed activities for all ages, including pin the nose on Rudolph, bingo, crafts, a raffle and the grand finale light switch on. A team from Humberside Fire & Rescue also came along and got involved in the activities.

The whole community was invited to the event which aimed to bring people together. It was also an opportunity to find out more about The Arc and the services on offer there. From housing advice and free training, to a Post Office and cafe.

Kerry Copson, Community Development Manager here at Ongo said: “When speaking to local people in Westcliff they always say the thing they love most about living here is the community spirit, so we wanted to host an event that would showcase this. I think we definitely succeeded and I couldn’t be more pleased with how it’s gone.

“This is something we’re hoping to continue every year, and we hope it’ll be something everyone looks forward to, and gets involved in.”

Kimberley Reeve, an Ongo Homes tenant commented “We love coming to The Arc, there’s always loads to do for me, and for younger people. It’s good that events are free too, especially at this time of the year.

“Having The Arc here has improved the area massively, and I would recommend coming along to anyone in the area.”

Throughout December The Arc have planned a whole calendar of events, and launched a special Christmas menu with a great choice of food and drinks including gingerbread coffee, black forest hot chocolate and hot turkey baguettes.
