First phase of new homes in Westcliff to complete this month
The first 10 new homes in Westcliff will be complete in June, and will be ready to let in Summer 2018.
In total, 41 new homes are to be built costing £4.5million. The whole project is due for completion in late 2019.
This is part of the wider £9million Westcliff regeneration project which includes The Arc; a large community hub with a cafe, Little Owls nursery, youth zone, enterprise zone and a post office, a large One Stop convenience store, a Coop Pharmacy, Heidi’s Hair and Beauty Salon and two other retail units.
The homes are being built by local firm TG Sowerby Developments Ltd. They will be a mixture of 2 & 3 Bed houses and 2 Bed bungalows plus two specialist 3 Bed Wheelchair Bungalows.
We are pleased to announce that street names have been decided for the new Westcliff homes, which will be Parker Avenue and Hobart Avenue. These are named after people important to the North Lincolnshire region. Thomas Parker was a joiner in Gainsborough and the founder of the Lincolnshire Cooperative – and with the Coop Pharmacy taking residence in the new Westcliff shopping area is a fitting name. The second being Major General Percy Hobart who was the first divisional commander of the 7th Armoured Division, and also coined the nickname the ‘desert rats’.
Martin Phillips, Development Manager, said: “It’s great to see the homes progressing so quickly and they’re being built to such a high standard, we’re sure these will be extremely popular once they’re ready to let.
“The next phase in the project is to demolish the old precinct area to make way for the third phase of homes, which will include some much needed specialist bungalows and family homes. This really will transform the area and give it a completely fresh new look and feel.
“Ongo has a commitment to support local communities, and this is just one of the ways we’re doing this, by building much needed affordable homes and improving community facilities for people living in and around the Westcliff area.”
