New jobs and opportunities coming to Westcliff

New jobs and opportunities coming to Westcliff Image

At least three new jobs and many volunteering opportunities will be created in Westcliff when The Arc opens in spring 2018.

The jobs will include working in The Arc’s cafe, cleaning and caretaking opportunities as well as other customer service focused roles. There will be a mixture of paid jobs and volunteering roles.

The Arc is a brand new community hub which is part of our £9million regeneration project in Westcliff, Scunthorpe. The project will see 41 new homes, a large One Stop convenience store, pharmacy, three retail units and The Arc being built, which will completely transform the area.

Within The Arc will be a cafe, enterprise zone, preschool, training centre, youth zone and a number of rooms that will be available for hire.

Jan Williams, Head of Community Development, said: “We’re so excited that we will be able to offer job opportunities in such a modern, brilliant building. We hope that the number of jobs available will grow over time to give local people even more chance to get into employment.

“There will also be lots of ways to volunteer at The Arc too, which will be a good way to gain skills and experience to help get back into work. Whether you’re interested in customer service, admin, cleaning, cooking or waitressing; we’ll be able to help. We’re also hoping to be able to offer apprenticeships within different areas of The Arc, so watch this space.”
