Barton project shortlisted for national award

Staff from our Viking Centre in Barton have been shortlisted for a Groundswork Community Award, for their commitment to improving the area, and the huge impact they’ve made to local people.

These awards honour small groups across the UK that make a difference by doing good and inspiring others to organise and get active in their own communities.

The Viking Centre has been shortlisted in the ‘Best community project on a social housing estate’ category, which specifically celebrate social landlords, for their work in reducing anti social behaviour, creating employment and training opportunities and making real, lasting changes to the people that live there.

Grace Woolley, Tutor Mentor here at Ongo said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for this award, it means so much to us all.

“We’ve been working tirelessly on the Caistor Road Estate, to make positive changes and create a place we’re all proud to work and live in, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve all achieved.”

Shortlisted finalists are invited to an awards ceremony, to be held at the House of Commons, Westminster, London on 22 November 2018, where the winner of each category will be announced.  To find out more about the awards, click here.
