As lockdown begins to eases and social distancing remains in place, our community hubs in Westcliff and Barton-upon-Humber are introducing free summer holiday activities.

Sessions will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 11am-12pm, where children will be able to participate in socially distanced sports days, foot golf, football and rounders, followed by a free lunchtime snack box.

Activities run by staff from The Arc in Westcliff will be held on Burringham Field in Scunthorpe and sessions, run by the Viking Centre in Barton, will be on the field in front of the building.  Sessions are for ages 8-19.

Jack Needham, Youth Mentor at the Viking Centre said: “This is a great opportunity to reconnect with our young people who would normally come to our centre.

“Since lockdown, many young children have been feeling cooped up in their houses with not much to do so this the perfect way for them to release all that energy.”

Safety measures have been put in place to ensure social distancing is maintained and this service will be running on limited spaces, so booking is essential.

As The Arc and Viking Centre look at ways to re-open, this is the perfect opportunity to keep in touch with young people who would usually use our services.
