Youth project awarded over £8,000

Our Raising Aspirations Project has been successful in its bid to secure a total of £8,400 from the National Lottery Awards for All initiative.

The project works with young people that lack role models and good support networks, to explore what they want to do in life, and different careers available to them.  The funding will be spent on training, education and fun activities.

The National Lottery offers a range of funding from £300 to £10,000 to support and improve local communities. They have teams across the UK, and each year give out more than £500million.

Our Raising Aspirations Project has a team of three mentors that work with over 150 children and young adults throughout North Lincolnshire each year.

Grace Woolley, Tutor Mentor said: “It’s so exciting to receive this funding. It will allow us to provide more exciting free activities for young people living in North Lincolnshire, including trips, craft sessions and workshops.”

The grant will be split equally between The Arc in Scunthorpe and The Viking Centre in Barton upon Humber. Both are based in areas with low employment rates compared to the national average, and have had high levels of anti social behaviour.

Harrison Eden, who has taken part in the Raising Aspirations Project said: “I love coming to activities at the Viking Centre, it’s great and we have loads of fun.

“I can’t wait to go on more trips out. My favourite so far was Big Fun in Hull.”
