Community investment

There are loads of different ways in which we give back to communities.

Most of our projects are delivered by our Ongo Communities team, who run a series of projects and initiatives designed to help people fulfil their potential and make our homes and environments a nicer place to live.

Each year we commit a percentage of our income to supporting these events, which focus on improving people’s education and skills, promoting healthy living, increasing employment and enterprise opportunities and expanding people’s digital skills.

Every Ongo employee is awarded 15 hours a year to dedicate to volunteering.

We also host a wide range of fundraising events throughout the year to help local charities and good causes.

All these events are promoted on our news pages.

Everything we do helps us to deliver our Corporate Social Responsibility.

  • Charity fundraising

Our generous staff arrange a series of charitable events throughout the year to raise much-needed funds for local good causes.

  • Viking Project

We have a dedicated team of officers and volunteers working in the heart of the community at Barton-upon-Humber to help breathe new life into the local centre and tackle some of the local issues.

Based at the Viking Centre, the team runs events and clubs aimed at bringing people together and supporting each other.

    This includes:

    • After-school clubs
    • Job clubs
    • Film nights
    • Gardening projects
    • Cooking clubs
    • Family fun days
  • Caring for carers

We run a project to support young carers who live in Ongo homes.

Working with the Young Carers Team at North Lincolnshire Council, we are making sure that young people under 18 who have responsibility for caring for a family member still get the opportunity to reach their potential and live a fulfilled life.

Through our Employment Support Team we are helping over-12s access additional learning opportunities and access essential respite away from their caring responsibilities.

All young carers are visited by the Ongo Housing Team to make sure they have the support they need and can access additional financial support they may be entitled to.

Do you know a young carer who may need additional support. Email our Support Officer to see if we can help.

  • Raising aspirations

We run a Raising Aspirations project, focused on helping young people living in Ongo homes plan for their future and live up to their potential.

Working in partnership with local schools, we provide mentoring support for young people, career advice including opportunities for apprenticeships, volunteering and work placements and practical training including home management skills.

We also support local youth clubs in Scunthorpe, Barton-upon-Humber and Winterton.

Fire drill notice

At 6.30pm today (21 June) we will be carrying out a pre-planned fire drill at Trent View House flats, in Scunthorpe. This drill was planned as part of our routine fire safety procedures. Everyone living at Trent View House has been made aware that this is just a drill. Following the fatal fire at Grenfell Tower, and after careful consideration, we have decided it is important to go ahead with the drill. We wish to inform the wider community that should they see activity at Trent View House that there is NO cause for alarm.
