Conveyancing Assistant Legal
We are currently recruiting for a leading local solicitor who are currently strengthening their Conveyancing Team.
The role will be to provide cost effective administrative support to all fee earners in the team in the work of the department.
The role would be based in Scunthorpe
Salary will be £15-20K p.a. depending on experience.
Main job purpose: Assist in the smooth running of the firm by providing a range of support services within the general office function.
Provide direct support to their principal to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency, a high degree of self-management and initiative is expected.
Act in a professional manner with clients, referrers, insurers, colleagues and all others with whom you come in to contact during the course of your work. Develop strong relationships with them and maintain professional standards at all times.
Prepare correspondence including the following: Applying for searches/printing/checking searches and raising enquiries as required, preparation of registrations, dealing with requisitions, drafting contracts, dealing with enquiries, checking mortgage offers, mortgage reports and drafting mortgage deed, carrying out OS1/2, K16, CHAPs forms, drafting Notices/Deed of Covenant/Stock Transfer Forms, preparation of completion statements, drafting Transfers, requisitions on title/SDLT, preparation of bills and completion statements.
Arrange for all copying to be done, in person if the admin assistant is not available to undertake the task. To assume the responsibility for all key dates, printing key dates on a daily basis and ensuring that those are actioned in a timely manner.
To take telephone calls from clients, and other third parties
Checking files are complete prior to exchange and completion, exchanging contracts when instructed to do so by Fee Earner, running exchange/completion jobs.
To be responsible for the updating of Title Absolute, ensuring that the LMS workbox is completed by Admin Assistants and to key date files wherever needed
Completion of registrations, scanning and sending Title Information
To be responsible for updating STARS, Title Absolute, Liberate (case and progress) the quality plan at every stage
To ensure that we use and complete completion checklists on both sale and purchase files
To undertake any specific training when required to do so both internal and external and take responsibility for own self development
Provide assistance to other members of the support team as required.
Carry out any other duties and responsibilities that may be reasonably required by the firm in the execution of its business.
Be proactive at annual appraisals
This is key role within the team and experience within in a similar position is required. Knowledge and understanding of conveyancing procedures and documentation.
