Egg-tra special Neighbourhood Pride
Over the Easter holidays we have been encouraging children and their families to take pride in the area they live and to raise awareness of the importance of recycling.
Our Customer Engagement Team joined forces with our caretakers and Housing Management Teams to put on Neighbourhood Pride events.
The teams visited Kirton-in-Lindsey on Thursday 7 April 2016 and Barrow-upon-Humber on Monday 11 April 2016 and they invited local childrem to join them in a litter pick.
They also planted sunflowers, learnt which wheelie bin is for which rubbish, created Easter chicks from recycled materials and completed an Easter Egg hunt.
Each child who took part received a certificate from Ongo’s Health & Safety Manager Rex Harrison to explain how important it is to look after the environment and how it can be fun to recycle.
Caroline Twilley, Customer Engagement Officer at Ongo, who arranged the events, said: “We arranged environmentally friendly focused events for families during the Easter holidays. We really wanted to make them fun but also raise awareness of the importance of recycling and how we can all help our local communities by being greener.
“The children really took on board what we were saying and can see how with a little bit of effort we can all help make our local communities a better place to live.”
