We are Leaders in Diversity
Our staff and tenants are very proud to be named as a leader in diversity.
The National Centre for Diversity carried out a desk top review of policies and procedures and came to visit the organisation earlier this year to look at how committed we are to making sure equality and diversity forms part of everything we do.
Staff and tenants took part in focus groups and surveys to say how they perceive Ongo as an organisation and how fairly we treat people.
Through our E&D steering group, we arrange events throughout the year to celebrate cultural diversity and raise awareness of our different communities.
Staff have also taken part in regular training sessions, become Dementia Friends, raised awareness about autism and enjoyed interfaith days.
We have also improved the way we communicate with our customers with a website which is fully accessible and uses a translation tool, as well as offering information tenants need in a variety of different languages.
Karen Cowan, Head of Customer & Support Services at Ongo, said: “It’s important that we consider equality and diversity in everything we do and being named as a Leader in Diversity means we are putting this into practice on a daily basis.
“We work alongside some very diverse communities in North Lincolnshire so it’s essential we understand cultural differences as well as offer a whole range of services which meet people’s needs.
“I’m incredibly proud that we have achieved such recognition and couldn’t do it without staff and tenants who are willing to learn and embrace our ethos of giving back to local communities.”
