Big Christmas lunch
We held a Christmas lunch for over 30 of our tenants to help tackle social isolation over the festive period.
Our staff organised the lunch at Lincoln Court, Scunthorpe, for tenants who will be spending Christmas alone this year.
The lunch was part of our ‘25 days of Christmas’ campaign.
Helen Wright, Support Manager at Ongo, said: “Throughout the year we try to hold as many events and social activities for our older tenants, and Christmas is no different. We held our lunch for tenants who won’t have anyone to spend Christmas with this year.
“It was an afternoon where our tenants and staff could get together, have a nice lunch and spend some time getting in the festive spirit. This is just one of the ways we’re committed to reducing social isolation for our tenants.”
Linda Rutter, one of our tenants who attended, said: “The Christmas lunch was such a lovely idea. I go to lots of the events that take place at Lincoln Court, it’s great seeing everyone come together.
“Moving to Lincoln Court was the best thing I ever did, I’m kept busy here and it keeps me young.”
Other activities include a festive bake off to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, collecting food for local food banks, visiting local charities to deliver festive treats, taking part in the national Christmas Jumper Day to raise money for Save the Children, and donating festive treats to local dog and cat rescue centres.
