Ready, Steady, Bake for Alzheimer's Society
We've been baking, decorating and eating cupcakes to raise lots of money for the Alzheimers Society.
Supporting National Cupcake Day, staff took part in challenges such as decorate a cupcake in 60 seconds and they tested their memory and taste buds in a guess the cupcake flavour game.
They also put their baking skills to the test and brought in their very best ‘Mary Berry’ creations for people to buy.
Our Cupcake Day on Thursday 16 June raised £150.
Bethany Smith, Support Services Assistant at Ongo and coordinator of Cupcake Day, was pleased with how the fundraising went: “The Alzheimer’s Society does some amazing work supporting individuals and their families, some of which live in our homes, so it makes sense for us to take part in events like this.
“We’ve been able to have fun and eat cupcakes, however, the activities had a serious meaning such as the memory game and the taste testing. Those people suffering from Dementia and their families know all too well that you can’t take your memory for granted.”
