Q&A with apprentice Lisa Dunderdale

Here is a Q&A session with Crosby Employment apprentice, Lisa.

What is your job role?  Recruitment Administrator Apprentice

Why did you apply for an apprenticeship?  I wanted to further my career. I was a beauty therapist for 10 years and needed a change. An apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to gain new skills.

What have you enjoyed most about your time as an apprentice? I have new skills completely different to what I was doing before. I have enjoyed achieving new skills and furthering my own career. Also I have enjoyed meeting new people and working in a good company.

What have you learnt from your apprenticeship? I am now a qualified recruitment officer. I have re-done all my key skills such as my ICT, maths and English and have been offered a lot of courses to do alongside the apprenticeship, such as health and safety, COSHH, safeguarding, risk assessment, writing CV’s.

Tell us a bit about a normal day for you as an apprentice? A normal day in the Recruitment Team is always a busy day. Arranging bookings, managing temp staff, registering and interviewing new candidates, emails and data input. I specialise in interpreter and crèche bookings. We also attend events and carry out sales.

Why would you recommend doing an apprenticeship? It’s a great way for people to get new skills and get paid at the same time.  

Why would you recommend businesses take on apprentices? I think businesses should take on apprentices as it means if they have a job opportunity they can train an apprentice to what their business specifically needs.
