Q&A with apprentice Lisa Dunderdale

Here is a Q&A session with Crosby Employment apprentice, Lisa.

What is your job role?  Recruitment Administrator Apprentice

Why did you apply for an apprenticeship?  I wanted to further my career. I was a beauty therapist for 10 years and needed a change. An apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to gain new skills.

What have you enjoyed most about your time as an apprentice? I have new skills completely different to what I was doing before. I have enjoyed achieving new skills and furthering my own career. Also I have enjoyed meeting new people and working in a good company.

What have you learnt from your apprenticeship? I am now a qualified recruitment officer. I have re-done all my key skills such as my ICT, maths and English and have been offered a lot of courses to do alongside the apprenticeship, such as health and safety, COSHH, safeguarding, risk assessment, writing CV’s.

Tell us a bit about a normal day for you as an apprentice? A normal day in the Recruitment Team is always a busy day. Arranging bookings, managing temp staff, registering and interviewing new candidates, emails and data input. I specialise in interpreter and crèche bookings. We also attend events and carry out sales.

Why would you recommend doing an apprenticeship? It’s a great way for people to get new skills and get paid at the same time.

Why would you recommend businesses take on apprentices? I think businesses should take on apprentices as it means if they have a job opportunity they can train an apprentice to what their business specifically needs.

Fire drill notice

At 6.30pm today (21 June) we will be carrying out a pre-planned fire drill at Trent View House flats, in Scunthorpe. This drill was planned as part of our routine fire safety procedures. Everyone living at Trent View House has been made aware that this is just a drill. Following the fatal fire at Grenfell Tower, and after careful consideration, we have decided it is important to go ahead with the drill. We wish to inform the wider community that should they see activity at Trent View House that there is NO cause for alarm.
