Ongo shortlisted for local business award
We have been shortlisted in the ‘Excellence in Community Relations’ category of the North Lincolnshire Business Awards.
The North Lincolnshire Business Awards aim to highlight the great work going on in the local area, and to showcase some of the best projects and initiatives taking place. The Excellence in Community Relations award focuses specifically on businesses that demonstrate their commitment to its local community and can evidence being a ‘good neighbour’.
We have been shortlisted for this award for the support we offer to people looking to get back into work. It is the Employment Support Team who are based at Crosby Employment that offer this support to tenants and the people of North Lincolnshire.
The team has developed a unique service called the ‘Ongo Journey to Work’ which can be tailored depending on their clients’ needs. This journey begins as soon as someone steps through the door who has a barrier stopping them getting work. They are immediately assigned a mentor to guide them.
The next stages involve coaching, confidence building, action planning, securing voluntary placements to gain skills and experience and finally the job search itself. The team holds group sessions, one to one mentoring and clients can also be put through training and gain qualifications which will help them when applying for jobs.
Over the last 12 months, the team has supported over 600 people into either employment, training or voluntary positions.
Hayley Cullen, Operations Manager for Crosby Employment, is delighted that her team has been shortlisted. She said: “It’s fantastic for the team to get shortlisted for this award. The work we do is very much focused around the community and helping local people, so to get recognised externally and be shortlisted in this particular category is amazing news.
“It’s so important for people looking to get back into work to have support in place to offer advice and guidance. We work with all kinds of people – whether they’ve been out of work for years, just come out of prison and struggling to find a job, single parents needing advice on how to manage the work and home life balance or people that need some help filling out an application form.”
The awards evening takes place on Friday 13 May at the Grimsby Auditorium.
