Haxey bungalows highly commended

Ongo Homes and our partner TG Sowerby Developments Ltd are celebrating after being highly commended at a prestigious housing award ceremony.

Thirteen, two bedroom bungalows on Hallcroft Close, Haxey, which were completed in May 2015, have been named as one of the Best Social or Affordable Housing Developments in the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) South Yorkshire and Humber Building Excellence Awards 2016.

The homes off Blackmoor Road had tenants moving in just hours after completion and form part of our commitment to delivering rural affordable housing.

The LABC South Yorkshire and Humber Building Excellence awards recognises the most impressive construction developments and projects in the region, for their outstanding quality work and excellence in both design and construction.

This is the second time Ongo Homes and TG Sowerby Developments Ltd have been highly commended in this category. Last year it was for Karen Court, off Haig Avenue, Scunthorpe - a housing scheme for people with learning disabilities.

The awards were held at Forest Pines on Thursday 12 May 2016.

Martin Philips, Development Manager for Ongo Homes, said: “We are very proud to have been recognised as one of the best social or affordable housing developments in South Yorkshire and the Humber.

“We want to create homes people want to live in and can be proud to call them their home. This award reflects how we are working hard with local partners like TG Sowerby Developments to make a real positive difference in local communities by creating much needed new homes.”

Steve Sowerby, Managing Director at TG Sowerby Developments Ltd said: “This is the second year in a row we have had an Ongo Homes project put forward for an LABC Award and we’re extremely proud that all the hard work that went into building these homes at Haxey has been recognised again.

“We take pride in what we do and how we do it and we’re pleased these awards reflect that.”

Fire drill notice

At 6.30pm today (21 June) we will be carrying out a pre-planned fire drill at Trent View House flats, in Scunthorpe. This drill was planned as part of our routine fire safety procedures. Everyone living at Trent View House has been made aware that this is just a drill. Following the fatal fire at Grenfell Tower, and after careful consideration, we have decided it is important to go ahead with the drill. We wish to inform the wider community that should they see activity at Trent View House that there is NO cause for alarm.
