Scroll down to see the different opportunities available to you:

The Growing and Learning Project

This is an 8 week program, located at the Ongo Allotment in Scunthorpe. This project is a wonderful place to volunteer, always promoting good mood gardening. On the allotment you will grow all sorts of fruit and vegetables in small teams with other volunteers.

You will work together in small groups to form new friendships and gain new skills. This project can also help with anxiety and depression and is a wonderful, welcoming place to volunteer. You will be working under the careful eye and guidance of Ongo Manager and very keen gardener, John Cavill.

Remember... It’s not what you grow, it’s how you grow.

The Bike Project

This is a six week program where you will be shown how to strip down a bike of your choice. You will then learn how to clean it and put it back together. Trust us when we say that this teaches you more skills than just how fix a bike...

This project can also help with anxiety and depression and is a wonderful, welcoming place to volunteer.

The Bikes are donated to us, so you are free to keep the bike at the end of your 6 weeks :)

Volunteer training

We offer a free one day of volunteer training course. This covers several helpful topics and gives you a Health & Safety level one qualification if required. You will also receive a volunteer passport to record your volunteering hours, and we will give a referral to your choice of volunteer placement if you wish to do a placement afterwards.

Work placements

Interested in volunteering but don't want to do it at Ongo? No worries!

We can help you find an external placement, provide you with free training if required, then we will organise a meet & greet with you and the placement host to help break the ice.

Once you start, we'll check in from time to time to make sure that you are happy with your placement and are progressing towards your goals.

Then at the end, we will give you a reference and help update your CV if you'd like.
