Westcliff regeneration project
We’re really proud of the work we’ve done in Westcliff, and how it has truly transformed the area. New homes, new shops and new opportunities for local people; right in the heart of the estate has given the area a new lease of life.
Tenants living in the area were involved and kept informed throughout the whole project, helping us decide on the name of The Arc, getting involved in consultation sessions about the plans for new homes in the area and having their say and youngsters even came and had site visits throughout the project to see how things were progressing and learn about building sites.
Since opening in 2018. The Arc has grown in terms of the services, events and activities on offer. There really is something for everyone within the community, whether that’s kids activities in the holidays, job club and training opportunities to help people secure employment or weekly social activities to get people together – there’s always something going on.
Since completing the building aspect to this regeneration project, we also secured £650,000 from The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) to help reduce crime in the area. A whole variety of initiatives were put in place from providing home security kits to tenants, installing bike pods, fitted more secure communal doors in our flats and provided additional lighting and CCTV.
