Exciting news. We have £20,000 available for local community groups to apply for a share of.

The funding is available to support our local community and tenants, by offering groups a share of £20,000. £10,000 of this is from our Safer Streets project and will be awarded to groups either based in or wanting to deliver projects in Westcliff.

Whether you’re a local boxing club, dance group, resident association, sports club or another community focused group, as long ‘as long as you’re based in an area we have homes, you can apply.

Local groups are encouraged to apply for the funding by submitting a short video of no more than four minutes, to explain what the money would be spent on, and how it will benefit local people.

You can apply from 1 January 2021 and they have until 29 January 2021 to submit entries. You can apply for up to £2,000 and all entry videos must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a community group based in North Lincolnshire
  • A not for profit group
  • Must be constituted and have your own bank account

Kerry Copson, our Community Development Manager, said: “We’re so excited to be able to bring back our community grants again for 2021.

“We know 2020 was extremely tough for so many people, families and community groups; which is why we’re pleased to be able to offer a share of £20k to support groups in our area.

“We’ve seen so many examples of community spirit and local groups looking out for one another throughout the pandemic, and we hope this money will be a bit of a helping hand to some of those groups.

The judging panel with the difficult decision of deciding which groups receive funding will be made up of Ongo colleagues and tenants.

James Main, Ongo Communities Board member, said: “A big part of what we do here at Ongo is supporting projects aiming to improve local communities. There is so much amazing work going on, so it’s brilliant we have this funding available to help make our area an even better place to live.

“I can’t wait to take a look at all the entries as they come in, and I know I will be as amazed as ever at the variety of work happening.

“It’s great that we can award funds to some of our smaller voluntary groups as well as the main stream groups as these funds we know can really make a direct difference in our local communities ”

To apply for a grant, you’ll need to upload a short video explaining what you would do with the money and how it would support our tenants and the wider community. For more info about creating the video and the criteria it needs to meet, click here.

Successful groups will be announced in March 2021.
