The Arc in Westcliff has been celebrating the festive season with a calendar of events for the whole community to enjoy.

The events kicked off with a Christmas craft fair on 28 November with 15 different stallholders and hundreds of homemade gifts available to buy. The homemade theme continued on 30 November with a fully booked wreath making master class.

The whole community was invited to their Christmas light switch on December 7, where there was free hot chocolate, bingo and a raffle. Partner agencies including Adult Education, The Healthy Lifestyle Service and Humberside Police attended.

On 14 December Westcliff Community Works set up a Santa’s grotto, and arranged a performance by children from Westcliff Primary School. Breakfast with Santa on 8 and 15 December were the final events, which were a sell out success and more than 30 people attended.

Along with the activities, The Arc launched their festive menu which includes gingerbread coffee, black forest hot chocolate, mince pies, a full Christmas dinner and hot turkey baguettes.

Fran Rhodes, Community Regeneration Coordinator, said: “We’re delighted at the response we’ve had to the activities we’ve held over Christmas. Feedback has been great and it’s been lovely to see so many new faces through the door.

“In 2019 we will continue to work with local people and partner agencies to offer more services, and make improvements to the Westcliff neighbourhood. If you’d like to find out more about what we do or think you can help, pop in and see us.”
