Christmas comes to The Arc

On Friday 6 December The Arc in Westcliff, Scunthorpe held a Christmas light switch on to kick off their month of festive events.

More than 80 local people attended, with a group of carol singers taking centre stage for everyone to join in.

Along with their usual timetable of youth activities and support groups, Christmas activities in December include:

  • Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 December – Santa’s grotto, organised by Westcliff Community Works
  • Friday 13 December – Christmas jumper day to raise money for Save the Children
  • Saturday 21 December – Breakfast with Santa

To round the month up, our staff will be volunteering on Christmas day to put on a special lunch for people on the estate, who have no other plans.

Victoria Bradshaw, Activities Coordinator at The Arc said: “The Christmas light switch on is a great event to get people on the estate together, and it has been a huge success.

“This month is going to be super busy for us, but we’re all so excited to get in the Christmas spirit and have lots of fun. If you’d like to get involved please pop along or get in touch with us.”

Kelly Drewry, who lives in the area commented: “I’ve come along today to join in the fun, and I’ve been going to the craft activities on a Friday morning here at The Arc.

“I’ve really enjoyed meeting new people and everyone is so friendly. I will definitely be coming along to more things in the future.”

The Arcafe are getting involved too with a special menu including Christmas lunch every Wednesday, a selection of hot drinks, mince pies and turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce baguettes.
