For the eighth year in a row, we are encouraging local groups to apply for their share of £10,000, as part of our community grants project.

Since launching back in 2012, the project has supported more than 85 groups, including Scunthorpe Boxing Club, Kimberley Performing Arts, Jen’s Special Place and Kirton in Lindsey Scouts.

Whether you’re a boxing club, dance group, resident association, sports club or another community focused group, as long as you’re based in North Lincolnshire, you are welcome to apply.

Applications must be made by submitting a short video to explain what the money would be spent on, and how it would support our tenants and the wider community.

Groups can apply from 27 Feb for up to £2,000, and have until 3 April to submit their video, which must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a community group based in North Lincolnshire
  • A not for profit group
  • Must be constituted and have your own bank account

Nicki Mumby from Lunch and Linger in Scunthorpe received a community grant last year. When asked about the project she said: “Our service is popular, and clearly needed in the area. We help older people to stay socially active, exercise their mind and eat a nutritious meal with friends.

“The grant helped to cover cost and keep our service running. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Ongo, and would encourage any local groups to apply for the grant.”

Successful applicant Tina Parker, from Gooch Judo Kwai in Scunthorpe said: “This grant has had a massive impact on the community. We have a wider range of activities available now, for toddler’s right up to pensioners.

“This grant always makes us to want to better our club and without it we wouldn’t have achieved so much and got so many people active.”

There will be a judging panel to decide which groups receive funding, made up of Ongo Board members and staff, and successful groups will be announced on Wednesday 22 April, 2020.
