Ongo are holding public consultation to gather the views of local residents on a proposed new scheme, to be built by them.

The development proposals are on three current garage sites off Bridges Road, Chaucer Avenue and Chapman Avenue in Scunthorpe. They will see nine three and four-bedroom properties in total, for affordable rent.

The homes will be carbon neutral, which could include an air source heat pump (ASHP) to each property and solar panels, to compensate for the energy used by the ASHP as well as other specialist features.

The designs bring new, larger housing options to the area with consideration given to those currently using the areas to park, with allocated spaces included.

Amy Schoenmaker, Project Development Manager at Ongo is leading the consultation. She said: “We want to hear from local people on the proposed development, ahead of any planning application. That’s something that is really important to us.

“There’s always a demand for new homes in the area and we feel we could make great use of the current space. It would be fantastic to not only offer brand new homes to local people, but to build them in a way that would be super environmentally friendly.

“We’d encourage as many people as possible to get involved in the consultation so that we can gather lots of ideas and opinions, and get a real feel as to how these proposals are being received.”

The consultation is taking place virtually with plans available to view on the Ongo website. To get involved and give your views, go to: www.ongo.co.uk/carbonneutraldevelopment.
