Dine and Dance returns
We hosted our annual Dine and Dance event on Wednesday 1 December, for our tenants over the age of 55 who would otherwise have spent their Christmas dinner alone.
The event is in its seventh year, after a two year break due to Covid-19 restrictions. Over 60 people attended, with this year’s hailed as being bigger and better than ever.
It was held at Heslam Park in Scunthorpe and was completely free of charge. Attendees had lunch, transport, fun, games, and fun entertainment all provided, along with a chance to celebrate the festive season together.
The main aim of the event is to tackle social isolation and encourage tenants to socialise, spend time with friends and meet new people.
Helen Wright, Tenancy Services Manager at Ongo said: “We are delighted that Dine and Dance has returned this year.
“It is one of my highlights of the year and we’re over the moon we can all come together again and celebrate.
“As well as having a fun time, it’s a really important way of getting our older tenants to network and meet more people. It really helps with social isolation and there are some fantastic friendships that have formed from our events like this.
“It’s great to see everyone again and already cannot wait until next year’s event.”
Janet Wilkinson who attended the event said: “I’ve had a lovely time today, it was great to get out and spend time with lots of other people.
“I was even lucky enough to win on the raffle and am very grateful to everyone involved in organising.”
