Double award win

On Friday 17 May, we were crowned winners at two regional award ceremonies.

Winning ‘Best Community Building’ at the Local Authority Building Control Awards (LABC) and ‘Community Excellence Award’ at the North Lincolnshire Business Awards, we were recognised for the work we have done in Westcliff over the last 18 months, and the development work which has happened there.

Jan Williams, Head of Community Investment, said: “To be shortlisted for two awards was fantastic, and to win both of them was just brilliant. For everyone involved in the creation and continued development of The Arc to be recognised is a great way to mark the first 12 months in business.

“We believe The Arc is making a real difference in the Westcliff community, and we’re seeing so many local people using of the facilities, and enjoying the activities and events taking place. We can’t wait to see what happens over the next 12 months.”

The North Lincolnshire Business Awards recognise local businesses and the great work they’re doing to make Northern Lincolnshire a brilliant place to live, and were held at The Baths Hall on Friday 17 May. We were recognised for the difference the investment and regeneration work in the Westcliff area has made to its people and community. It also highlighted the ways in which we support the local community with the various events, activities and guidance on offer.

The LABC awards also took place on Friday 17 May at Forest Pines, and we were shortlisted in three categories. The awards recognise quality in various building projects, and they’re the largest awards in the sector. We were shortlisted for Best Community Building – for The Arc and shops (built by GS Kelsey), Best New Housing Development (up to 10 homes) – Grange Lane South homes (built by TG Sowerby’s) , Best New Housing Development (up to 10 homes) – Henderson Avenue homes  (built by MFM). We were named runner up in the Best New Housing Development category.
