Former Ashby Market development wins regional award
A development that has transformed the former Ashby Market site in Scunthorpe has been recognised at the LABC Yorkshire Building Excellence Awards 2026, winning the Best Large Social Housing category.
The development, delivered by us alongside T.G. Sowerby Developments Ltd, BSB Architecture and Vision Construction & Consultancy, has created 40 new homes on the former market site, helping meet the demand for affordable housing in the area.
The homes, which were completed in 2025, include a mix of flats and family homes available through affordable rent, Rent to Buy and Shared Ownership.
The award celebrates the quality of the development and the partnership behind it, with projects from across the region recognised for excellence in construction and housing.
Martin Phillips, Head of Developments said, “We’re incredibly proud to see the Ashby Market development recognised in this way.
“For many people in Scunthorpe, the market site is somewhere they’ll know well, so being able to bring it back into use and create much-needed homes has been really special.
“This award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the project, and the strong partnerships that helped bring it to life.
“Most importantly, it’s created high-quality homes for local people, and that’s what makes this achievement so meaningful.”
The awards celebrate some of the best housing and construction projects in the region, recognising quality, innovation and partnership working, with regional winners going forward to the national finals later this year.
