Free, Fuelled activities throughout summer at our community hubs

We are delivering a packed programme of free summer activities for children and families across North Lincolnshire, thanks to funding from the Fuelled Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Programme.

Running at The Arc in Westcliff, Scunthorpe, and The Viking Centre in Barton upon Humber, the sessions offer eligible children (those receiving benefits-related free school meals), a range of fun activities alongside a healthy meal at every session.

The programme is funded by the Department for Education and delivered locally by North Lincolnshire Council.

This summer’s activities include trips to Cleethorpes beach, Normanby Hall, Go Ape and local parks, as well as sports, crafts, family bingo, picnics, scavenger hunts and science workshops.

At The Viking Centre, children will also enjoy a themed “around the world” menu, trying different dishes and learning about other countries and cultures.

The sessions provide children with opportunities to stay active, make new friends and have fun during the long school holidays, while supporting families with free activities and meals.

Kerry Copson, our Community Development Manager, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to deliver sessions again this summer with the support of Fuelled funding. Every year they are incredibly popular and always fully booked, which really shows how much they’re needed in our communities.

“We know how difficult it can be for families to not only keep children entertained throughout the holidays, but to afford it too, especially with how much everything seems to cost right now. That’s why it’s so rewarding to see children having fun, making friends and going home with full bellies after enjoying a hearty, home-cooked meals.”

Children under eight must attend with a responsible adult, and eligibility for Fuelled sessions is set by the council.

All sessions aim to bring communities together, offering a safe, fun and supportive environment for children and families throughout the summer break.
