On Tuesday, 21 January 2020 we held our Fresh Start event at The Arc, which over 40 people from the local community attended.

The event showcased the excellent opportunities available for the local community to get involved in.

Fran Rhodes our Regeneration Co-Ordinator, said: “This event is about getting the community to know that we are here and building on those important relationships.

“We want to help the Westcliff community and other people locally find out about what is available to them such as employment support, the ‘My Home’ app, Victim Support, Citizens Advice Bureau and volunteering opportunities.”

Throughout the day we had lots of people come and see the services we and our external partners have to offer and chat to staff as well as taking part in some fun activities such as planting hyacinth.

John Cavil, Learning & Growing Project Manager, said: “We are offering tenants and all of the people on the estate to just come in and plant the hyacinth bulbs. They can plant them and take it home with them to enjoy.”

One of our volunteers, Emma Smith said: “There’s a lot of different people here that are showing what goes on at the Arc.

“Since I’ve been coming to The Arc I do all sorts now from volunteering behind reception, helping out with coffee groups and natter mornings, arts and craft group. I’m looking to set up a women’s group with my friend.”

This is just one of the many and activities we hold at The Arc. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy, for the latest events follow The Arc on social media.
