Garden party success

On Friday 21 June, we hosted a garden party for the tenants living at Karen Court in Scunthorpe, along with JME Care.

Karen Court is a specialist housing scheme made up of eight two bedroom apartments, specifically designed for people with learning difficulties. Each home has special features, including colour coding, to allow tenants living in them to have more independence.

On the day there was a disco, raffle, arts and crafts and light refreshments. It was a free event for Karen Court tenants, their families and other local people with a learning disability to enjoy. The event took place between 11am and 3pm.

Jamie Moore, tenant, said: “I’ve lived here for five years and I love it so much. It’s such a brilliant community to be part of and it really has given me my independence back.

“I was so looking forward to this event, and it’s been an amazing day.”

John Egbury, MD of JME Care, said: “This is the third time we’ve held this event and it has grown year on year. It’s a great way to highlight how the tenants living here are able to lead an independent life with the support of our care workers and Ongo staff.

“I’d just like to say a massive thank you to everyone that helped make the day happen.”
