Four of our staff will be taking part in the Sahara Trek Challenge in September, to raise money for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

The trek, which takes place this year between 28 September and 6 October, will see a group of 15 people spend five days trekking through the largest desert in the world in a fundraising effort to raise valuable funds for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

The trek is 100km in total and participants will endure tough conditions, very basic living and no home comforts for the duration of the trip.

To be able to take part, the each person in the team needs to raise £1,500 so various events and fundraisers are currently being planned to reach the target.

Sarah Withers, Housing Officer, has signed up for the trek: “This trip will be a huge challenge for me and the rest of the Ongo team, but at the same time will be hugely rewarding to raise vital funds for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

“It is such a fantastic service for the local area which relies on donations to be able to continue running. So many people benefit from it each year, so we’re really proud to be doing this for them.

“The first big challenge however is raising enough money to go on the trek. We’re planning lots of events and activities so if any local people or businesses out there would like to get involved and support us, we’d really appreciate it.”
