Halloween fun

Over 100 young people have been involved in Halloween events at our community centres in Scunthorpe and Barton upon Humber this spooky season.

The Arc in Westcliff, Scunthorpe and Viking Centre on Fairfield Road, Barton upon Humber hosted a week of fun for local families to get involved in.

The activities were all free of charge and included pumpkin carving, fancy dress competitions, slime making, youth sessions, crafts, movie nights, half term café offers, trips to our allotment and discos.

The Viking Centre hosted their Halloween disco on Friday 29 October, which more than 50 children attended.

When asked about the event, Cindie Moss, a local parent commented: “Things like this are so good for the kids and our area, especially after most things were cancelled last year.

“We come regularly to the Viking Centre and really appreciate the hard work from the team and how much they do.”

Jemma Akers, Youth Mentor at The Arc said: “Halloween activities have been brilliant and very well attended. It’s really important for us to continue to build relationships and engage with local people so we can bring the community together.

“Our community centres are not only open for fun activities but we offer employment support, housing advice, training and more so please come in and see us.”
