On Wednesday 26 September, we hosted a garden party for their residents at Karen Court in Scunthorpe.

Karen Court is a specialist housing scheme made up of eight two bedroom apartments, specifically designed for people with learning difficulties. Each home has special features, including colour coding and an open plan design, to allow tenants living in them to have more independence.

At the time of completion in 2015, it was the first scheme in the North East, Yorkshire & Humber region to receive funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) Care & Support Specialised Housing Fund.

On the day there was a disco, along with food and refreshments and arts & crafts activities for the residents to enjoy.

Helen Wright, Support Services Manager at said: “We know it’s important to continue engaging with our tenants at Karen Court to build positive relationships. That’s why as well as the onsite care team, a member of staff from Ongo visits weekly, and we host events like this one.

“The garden party has been a huge success and it’s been great to see tenants joining in and having fun.”

We also recently announced plans to build the first specialist housing scheme in North Lincolnshire specifically for people living with dementia so that they can continue to independently for as long as possible. To see a video of those plans, click here.
