My case study - Lauren
We hear from Lauren today who started her Ongo journey as an apprentice and has worked her way up to being a HR Business Partner.
Q1. What was your apprenticeship in and why did you choose this one?
My apprenticeship was in Maintenance. When searching for a role, I knew I wanted to gain administration experience, which this specific apprenticeship offered.
Q2. What experience did you gain from your apprenticeship and how has your apprenticeship benefited you?
I gained some valuable skills that enabled me to progress within Ongo. It was my first ‘proper’ job, so I literally just took everything that I could in, undertook tonnes of training and it was a great start to understanding what social housing is and what it means.
Q3. What was the outcome at the end of your apprenticeship?
During my apprenticeship I secured a maternity leave cover role in Human Resources and the rest is history… eight years later, I’m a HR business partner.
The experience I gained in one team has helped me across the organisation, especially when it came to building relationships as this is valuable for my current role.
Q4. If you had one sentence to describe your apprenticeship, what would it be?
Invaluable experience that lead me to where I am today in my career.
