WEA (Worker’s Educational Association) are back at The Arc after popular demand and are delivering a make your own quilt class.

The Arc and WEA are working in partnership to bring the community together by delivering craft, creative art and design courses for all in the local and surrounding areas for all to relax, meet new friends and have some creative fun!

This class is perfect for beginners and for anyone over 16 years and the aim is for you to rediscover your creating ability. Throughout 10 sessions; 2 hours each you will be learning to work with traditional and contemporary techniques, methods in patching and quilting either by hand or machine stitching. By learning new skills and developing current skills you will create accurate cutting and sewing so your masterpiece fits together perfectly.

WEA has already been successful in running a 10 week course in The Arc, just before the Christmas period they held a learn to be creative fabrics course which lasted for over 10 weeks, this class was enjoyed by all that attended and wished it could have been a permanent fixture in The Arc. Berita who attended learn to be creative with fabrics course described it as “Very enjoyable sessions and was great to learn new skills, I am looking forward to the new course that will be launching in February”.  Having a course to attend in the local area has helped people who were involved feel a part of the community and has helped their mental health!

Make your own quilt course starts on the 17th February for 10 weeks 1pm-3pm at The Arc in Westcliff, there will be a course fee of £76.00 (which includes equipment) but if you receive certain benefits you may be entitled to a free course!
