Karen Locking joined us in 2022 as a member of the Ongo Communities Board, bringing 20 years of knowledge and experience in both the public and the private sector.

For the last 10 years Karen has been the Director of her own business, supporting other organisations with their marketing and social media.

She also ran a successful business networking event every month for eight years, enabling her to make a number of local connections across Lincolnshire.

Alongside this, Karen lectures at the University of Lincoln and Bishop Grosseteste University, specialising in leadership, management, marketing and business.

Out of work she is passionate about helping others and is a fundraising and publicity volunteer for Scunthorpe Samaritans. She has arranged events including skydives, wing walks, abseils, walks over glass, fire and lego and the

longer variety like the three peaks challenge.

When asked about becoming an Ongo Board member she said:

“I want to support however I can with the great work Ongo is already doing for North Lincolnshire and beyond.

“The investment they’ve driven in areas that have felt forgotten and the community work outside of their ‘social housing’ expectation has always impressed me.

“I wanted to see how I could support with this. Learning about the great work the staff are tirelessly committed to fills me with a sense of excitement for the areas Ongo are working in.”
