Mental health Awareness Week

We are taking part in national ‘Mental Health Awareness Week’ from 15-19 May, with events and campaigns across the region for all to take part in.

The week was created by Mental Health Foundation and this year is themed around anxiety, the experience of that and its effect on our mental health.

We have a range of wellbeing services available for customers to support with mental health including counselling, check in calls, confidence building sessions, social activities and employment support.

For colleagues we offer counselling, a wellbeing space, training and occupational health.

To promote the support we offer and get behind the week, several events are taking place. Find out more about them and how you can get involved:

Walk and Talk – Monday 15 May

  • 10am at The Pods in Scunthorpe
  • Mindful walk around Central Park followed by a workshop
  • All are welcome to join

Mindful colouring and crafts – Wednesday 17 May

  • 1pm at The Viking Centre in Barton upon Humber
  • All are welcome to join from the local area. If you’d like to get involved, speak to the team and The Viking Centre

Golf sessions – Thursday 18 May

  • 11am at Normanby Hall
  • For members already attending Ongo projects

Carol Richardson, Community Engagement Coordinator here at Ongo said: “We are pleased to be raising awareness of such an important topic. For us it’s not just about one week, we are here all year round and want to shout as much as possible that help is available.

“If you need support or know someone who may benefit from one of our mental health projects, please get in touch with us, we can help and would love to hear from you.”
