Happy birthday to Myos House

Our specialist care scheme, Myos House, is celebrating its second birthday.

Based in Scunthorpe, it’s the first of its kind building in the area and is specifically designed to care for people living with dementia.

It has 25 apartments and provides supported and independent living, along with social activities and communal spaces.

August marks two years since the doors first opened and residents were welcomed in.

Since then, garden parties, seasonal events, birthday celebrations, fundraisers and a grand opening for their new outdoor area have been held.

Scott Matthews, Team Leader here at Ongo said: “There is a lovely atmosphere here at Myos and a real sense of community between the residents, which is great to see.

“The last 12 months have been very busy, with the opening of a new pergola, built by our Neighbourhood Services team, being a big highlight.

“There’s always lots going on. It’s a special place with fantastic residents and colleagues, and we’re delighted to be celebrating two years.”

Denise Ford was appointed by us as the Dementia Scheme Officer, playing a huge part in the day to day running of Myos House.

Sadly this year she passed away and as a special tribute, a commemorative plaque was added to the garden, with an official opening held on 7 June with residents, their families and our colleagues.
