Our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Steering group were shortlisted for two awards in the National Centre for Diversity annual awards on 16 January 2020.

It is a great achievement for us to be recognised for all of our commitment to EDI and the work we have done to promote and encourage diversity with our staff, tenants and contractors.

Our EDI team were finalists in the ‘Steering Group of the Year’ category and EDI Champion, Erica Sanderson was a finalist in the ‘Employee of the Year’ and ‘Most Inspiring Individual of the Year’ category.

The National Centre for Diversity works with organisations to positively influence beliefs, and improve their workplace. They have also created national equality standards, such as the Leaders in Diversity Award.

Erica Sanderson, Strategy & Policy Officer and Equality & Diversity Champion, said: “Even though we didn’t win the award it’s a huge deal to have been shortlisted for all the hard work we do to embed equality and it’s an amazing feeling to be recognised for that.

“These awards are across all sectors, not just housing, so to have been shortlisted with other major businesses across the UK is just brilliant for us.”

Our EDI group is made up of staff, tenants and partners. The purpose is to raise awareness, push forward activities and embed EDI across the organisation. We also work to challenge behaviours and influence improvements.
