Our Parkwood Avenue development was announced as the winning ‘Best Social / Affordable New Housing Project’ in the recent LABC awards.

The LABC (Local Authority Building Control) awards are the largest awards in the building control sector, and they aim to recognise quality in all types of building project.

The awards took place on Friday 18 May at Forest Pines Hotel in Scunthorpe, with 12 different awards up for grabs.

Parkwood Avenue, an Ongo development in the Westcliff area of Scunthorpe was the winner in the ‘Best Social or Affordable New Housing Project’ category. This was a partnership project with contractors T.G Sowerby Developments Ltd and BSB Architecture.

Made up of 20 new homes at a cost of £2.1million, this development is made up of a mixture of two and three bed houses. All the homes are built to a high standard and have modern kitchens and bathrooms, off road parking, private gardens and special eco friendly features such as bird and bat boxes.

Martin Phillips, Development Manager here at Ongo, said: “We’re really proud of these homes, and it’s great to see them get recognition in these industry awards. They’re part of a wider Westcliff regeneration project and it will be great to see the area completely transformed once all the work is complete.

“We were up against some tough competition as there’s so much great development work going on, which is really helping to improve the North Lincolnshire area.

Steve Sowerby, Manager of T G Sowerby Developments Ltd, said: “We were delighted to win this year’s LABC Building Excellence Award for Best Social/Affordable New Housing Project in the region, for the houses we built off Bridgewater Road in Scunthorpe last year.

“Working in Partnership with Ongo Homes again, this scheme delivered twenty first class and much needed new homes on the Westcliff estate ahead of the main regeneration now taking place in that part of Scunthorpe. It was a real team effort, and that has been recognised by this award.”
