Our pledge to support our armed forces

In July 2018, we signed the Armed Forces Covenant to recognise the value serving personnel, veterans and military families bring to local communities.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise to ensure that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. And to date over 1,500 organisations have signed it, including businesses and charities. By signing the obligation, we’ve pledged to uphold key principles, which include:

– Seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including by accommodating their training and deployment where possible

– Signposting Veterans that live in an Ongo Homes property to specialised support services should they need them

Karen Cowan, Head of Customer and Support Services here at Ongo said: “I’m delighted that we’ve joined over 1,500 organisations in signing the Armed Forces Covenant. It reinforces our continued support to the armed forces community, and it’s something we were very keen to do.

“We understand the enormous contribution the Armed Forces and their families bring to us all, and we’re proud to support them.”

Peter May, a member of the North Lincolnshire Veterans Community Group said: “It’s great that Ongo have signed the covenant, and that they have made a commitment to the armed forces and their families. We hope more organisations follow Ongo’s lead and sign it too.

“The North Lincolnshire Veterans Community Hub is based at 31 Frances St in Scunthorpe, and are open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am-3.30pm. We provide support to all armed forces personnel and their families, so if you’d like to meet new people or need some extra support, come in and chat to us.”
