Rachel is our community champion

Rachel Woodliffe who works at The Arc, Westcliff started out her Ongo journey as a tenant volunteer, giving her time to our HR team and also the team based at The Arc.

She is passionate about Westcliff and the community she lives in, and volunteers her time at a weekend to run activities for young people. She is chair of the Westcliff Residents Association and is also a listening ear to local residents looking for support, advice or just someone to talk to. This is alongside suffering from a number of serious health conditions, and raising her four children.

Rachel was nominated for the ‘outstanding contribution to a stronger community’ category in the recent North Lincolnshire Community Champion Awards, organised by North Lincolnshire Council. She was runner up, which is a fantastic achievement and really recognises the difference she is making in her local community.

Reducing anti social behaviour, and making Westcliff a safer place for young people to grow up is really important to Rachel, and she has been working hard with the support of Ongo staff, Westcliff Community Works, Humberside Police and other agencies to make this happen.

There’s still a way to go in combating problems in the area, and Rachel is going to be a key part in making changes and improvements.

A massive congratulations to Rachel from us all for her achievements.
