Real Estates radio show: focusing on Westcliff Image

On Friday 16 November, Radio Humberside will be broadcasting a show recorded from The Arc in Westcliff, Scunthorpe.

The Real Estates Show is a new series of programmes launched by Radio Humberside to highlight and promote the great places to live in Northern Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire. The shows are played on a Friday evening between 7pm-10pm.

People from a local estate present their own programme about where they live. The show recorded in Westcliff was presented by local 18 year old Mollie Sayers who grew up in Westcliff and is currently a North Lindsey College student. Mollie interviewed a range of guests including local residents, business owners, volunteers at The Arc and other local organisations to find out more about the Westcliff and the great things going on.

Fran Rhodes, Community Regeneration Coordinator, said: “We loved recording the radio show, and it was great to hear so many positive and interesting stories about Westcliff. It’s been a fab opportunity to promote Westcliff and all the fantastic things going on here.”

“We hope lots of people will tune in and learn all about the services we can offer at The Arc. We’d also encourage anyone that is interested in our activities and events to come along and find out more about how to get involved.”

Carl Wheatley, Producer of the Real Estates Show at BBC Radio Humberside, said: “The aim of this new series is to get to the heart of our local estates and find out what makes them tick.

“We want to change people’s views on what it’s like to live and work on the estates – and take a positive, upbeat look at day to day life there.  Mollie, our guest host, was a real find – and took us to places that mean the most to her in Westcliff.”

The show focusing on Westcliff in Scunthorpe which was recorded at The Arc on 25 October will be played out in full at 7pm on Friday 16 November. You can find Radio Humberside at 95.9FM and also online www.bbc.co.uk/radiohumberside
