Over 2,000 people attended the Ongo Carnival on Wednesday 2 August, a free event, which took place at Manor Park in Scunthorpe.

There was something for all ages at the carnival including donkey rides, giant inflatables, birds of prey, face painting, a henna tattoo artist, circus workshop and a penalty shootout competition.

Demonstrations took place throughout the day from various local organisations including, Messingham Martial Arts, Field of Dreams dog display, Ruby Twirl Stars, Kimberley Performing Arts and Scunthorpe & District Pipe Band.

Lots of local groups and organisations also had information stands at the carnival. There was North Lindsey College, Healthwatch, the Samaritans, North Lincolnshire Council, Westcliff Drop In Centre and lots of Ongo stands with staff available to offer advice and guidance.

Wendy Wolfe, Customer Engagement Manager, said: “We’re so pleased with how well the carnival went again this year, and to see record numbers of people attending was brilliant. This must be the biggest free event in North Lincolnshire which is why I think we get such a great turnout. The summer holidays can be a long time to fill with activities for the family to do, so we try to put on an event that everyone will enjoy but won’t cost much either.

“We loved seeing so many people enjoy themselves getting involved in all the great activities on offer. It was our 10th anniversary this year, so we wanted to make the carnival even bigger and better than ever before. We hope everyone enjoyed it.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that was involved in making the day happen, and to everyone that came along and enjoyed our carnival”
