We teamed up with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service to take part in a Princes Trust project, to tidy up an area in Scunthorpe.

The five day project ran from Monday 29 October to Friday 2 November and saw eight local volunteers getting stuck in to neighbourhood improvements on the Westcliff estate in Scunthorpe.

Improvements included painting archways, clearing leaves, weeds and moss from block paved courtyards, trimming overgrown hedges and general cleaning. In total, 542kg of green waste was removed from the courtyards, 96 square meters of wall surface had been painted and 80 litres of paint was used.

Steve Gilmour, Estate Services Team Leader here at Ongo said: “When Humberside Fire and Rescue Service got in touch, we knew it was something we could definitely help with, and were very keen to do so. The volunteers have been absolutely fantastic and have done a great job.

“It’s been great to hear so much positive feedback from local residents. We’re hoping to support more projects like this in the future.”

Rachael Smith, Education and Development Manager from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said: “There has been fantastic progress made by the young people throughout the week, who have made a real difference in the local community. We hope to work in partnership with Ongo again in the near future.”
