Two developments receive Police award
Myos House, our dementia care scheme, and Sycamore Court, a development of eight bungalows in Scunthorpe have been awarded a Gold standard Secured by Design award.
Secured by Design is a Police organisation that works with businesses to reduce crime through the design of their new homes and developments. Their aim is to help people live in a safer society.
Myos House achieved Gold standard for features including external lighting around the perimeter, fencing, CCTV at access points and the design of the building to keep potential vulnerable adults safe.
The eight bungalows at Sycamore Court in Scunthorpe were recognised for their specially created architecture which has natural surveillance and enhanced environmental design, along with top specification doors and windows and features including interactive doorbells.
Tracey Rokhar, Designing out Crime Officer, Humberside police said: “I’ve loved working with Ongo to ensure these standards were put in place and everyone should be so proud of themselves for the work they have done.
“Myos in particular was such a wonderful and unique scheme as we had to design out crime, but also keep in mind the vulnerability of those who live there.
“The bungalows are great too, and I am absolutely delighted to give the Gold award for them both.”
Georgie McGuire, Development Project Manager said: “We are over the moon that our dementia scheme and lovely new bungalows have been recognised for their secure design.
“Creating safe places to live is at the heart of all of our developments. From the outset we look at features we can incorporate, down to how the plots are laid out.
“As a team we’d like to thank our contractors, GS Kelsey and TG Sowerby, for all of their hard work, and the Secured by Design team for the awards.”
