We have been awarded national accreditation for environmental commitment
We have been awarded a Silver SHIFT accreditation following a full assessment on our working practices in relation to sustainability and the environment.
SHIFT is an accreditation scheme that works with landlords to carry out an independent assessment to recognise achievements and provide recommendations to improve environmental impact.
Achieving this allows organisations to demonstrate their green credentials to funders, partners and regulators. It can also help to reduce fuel poverty and improve the financial resilience of customers.
Our asset management, new build homes and working operations were analysed and submitted as part of this.
Along with being awarded the accreditation, SHIFT provided a detailed action plan for us, including recommendations for improvements and advise on where to focus future resources to achieve savings or a reduced carbon footprint.
Andrea Morley, Sustainability Manager here at Ongo said: “We have a clear aim when it comes to this subject, and that is to reach net zero by 2050. Undertaking the SHIFT accreditation will support us with this goal and we’re delighted that we’ve achieved Silver.
“Everything from improving the energy efficiency and EPC rating of our homes, building more carbon neutral properties, installing greener technology, introducing electric vehicles, to taking part in huge campaigns and more is part of our upcoming plans.
“We’ve published a full roadmap and all information relating to our net zero journey on our website, so please take a look.”
