We’re celebrating Volunteers’ Week and the people making a difference in our communities

We are celebrating Volunteers’ Week, recognising the incredible individuals who give their time, skills and energy to support others. The annual campaign shines a light on the millions of volunteers who make a positive impact in their communities.

Over the last 12 months, we have worked with more than 50 volunteers, each receiving accredited training and support from a dedicated coach to help them build confidence, develop new skills and move closer to employment. Many of these opportunities are delivered through our volunteering and work placement programmes, which offer hands‑on experience, tailored guidance and a pathway into long‑term work.

Our volunteering offer is designed to be flexible and inclusive, with opportunities ranging from community projects and customer‑facing roles to hands‑on work experience placements. Volunteers can choose roles that match their interests, availability and goals, while benefiting from structured support and personal development opportunities.

Katie Herron, Work Placement Coordinator, said: “Volunteers’ Week is one of the highlights of our year because it gives us the chance to celebrate the people who make such a huge difference.

“Our volunteers bring compassion, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, and that combination changes lives. We see people grow in confidence, discover new strengths and take steps they never thought possible.

“I’m incredibly proud of every single volunteer who has been part of our journey this year, and I’d encourage anyone who’s thinking about getting involved to take that first step. You’ll be supported, valued and part of something that genuinely matters.”

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we are saying a thank you to everyone who has given their time, whether for a few hours or a full year – and are encouraging more people to explore the opportunities available.
