Our Employment Support Team has launched a one to one service to get ex-offenders and people on the edge of offending into employment.

The service, which is funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner, will support 160 people over the next two years to access training, apprenticeships and job opportunities.

Support will include CV writing, interview skills, disclosure advice, work experience and access to services that address common barriers such as accommodation, debt, health and mental health issues and transport.

Aaron Flannagan, who is leading the project, will be based at both The Arc in Westcliff and the Employment Support Office at Cole Street, Scunthorpe. He said: “It’s great that we’re able to provide this support, it’s something we see real value in and it’s definitely needed in our local area.

“People that have a criminal record, or are at the risk of getting one often struggle to see their potential, so we’re here to help them move on and recognise that. If you think we could help you, just get in touch with us, we’d love to help”

Chief Superintendent Darren Downs said: “The Crime Reduction Fund has funded a variety of different projects across North Lincolnshire and this is another exciting opportunity to work with one of our partners, to help support a key project.

“Working to support people into employment is a critical area of work enabling a change to a more positive lifestyle, and we look forward to hearing more about the success of the project in the coming months.”
