Following consultation with local residents, planning approval has now been given for this redevelopment project.

This includes 27 new properties in total, made up of one and two-bedroom bungalows and two and three-bedroom homes for affordable rent, rent to buy and shared ownership, over two phases.

GS Kelsey have been appointed the main contractor for this, with work beginning on the first phase in the coming weeks.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone that provided their ideas and feedback, it was a huge help and we massively appreciate it.

This page is where we will publish all updates on the scheme. For more information, take a look at our Q&As below:

  • Over the years lots of homes have become empty at Ashtree Close, and people are leaving them at a higher rate than our average. Our aim is to create a more stale and sustainable community for the future.

  • The scheme includes 27 new properties in total, which are to be made up of one and two-bedroom bungalows and two and three-bedroom houses, for affordable rent, rent to buy and shared ownership, over two phases.

Phase one will see 16 properties built for affordable rent where the old flats have been demolished and on the old garage bases around the corner.

Phase two will see 11 additional properties built once residents have moved and the old flats demolished. These properties will be a mixture of affordable rent, rent to buy and shared ownership.

  • We are in touch with all tenants that are directly affected, and will continue to update them throughout the process. This will be through letters, telephone calls and face to face.

The most important thing for us is to make sure that they are kept up to date, and understand the whole process.

If you are currently living in a property due for demolition and have outstanding repairs please call us to have these looked at, or if you have any questions at all.

  • The next step is to finalise designs and engineering plans, carry out final site investigations and site clearance, then the sites will be fenced off ready to start.

You should start to see this work happening October 2022 with foundations starting in January 2023. Completion of the first 16 properties is currently programmed for towards the end of 2023 to the beginning of 2024.

  • If you have any questions about the redevelopment of Ashtree Close, please give us a call.

As soon as we have more information, we will be in touch directly with those tenants in the area.
