Ashtree Close updates

In March 2020 we will be carrying out site investigations at Ashtree Close, Belton to look at the potential for redevelopment of land.

Here is where we will publish updates, so please keep checking back. For more information, take a look at our Q&As below:

  • What is involved in site investigations?

During the site investigations our contractors will drill holes in the ground, so that they can take samples and measurements.

  • I live in the area, will the site investigations affect me and my home?

This should not interfere with you or your home. You may see our contractors in the area or hear them working, but there should be little or no disruption.

  • What do the site investigations tell you?

These results will give us the information we need to look at the makeup of the ground and any contaminants or potential issues. This will then tell us what is possible in terms of building on the land.

  • Why are you looking at redeveloping the area?

Over the years lots of homes have become empty at Ashtree Close, and people are leaving them at a higher rate than our average. Our aim is to create a more stale and sustainable community for the future.

  • What will the redevelopment look like?

Over recent years Ongo have considered a number of options to regenerate the properties but were found to not be feasible. With this in mind we are now looking at potentially demolishing the current flats and building new houses and bungalows.

  • I live in the area, how will I be communicated with and what does this mean for me and my home?

Although we are in the early stages, we have been in touch with all tenants this may affect, and will continue to update them throughout. This will be through letters, telephone calls and face to face.

The most important thing for us is to make sure that they are kept up to date, and understand the whole process.

  • What are the timescales and key dates?

Site investigations were carried out in March and results are back. Consultation has been carried out with all affected tenants explaining the process and impact on them and their homes.

Detailed designs are being worked on and should be available for consultation again in Oct 2020. Affected tenants and neighbouring properties should receive a letter with plans asking for feedback before the end of Oct 2020.

After the wider consultation has taken place we envisage that the plans will be submitted to the Local Authority for planning permission by the end of the year.  Planning permission could take as long as 6 months to obtain.

  • I have more questions, who can I speak to?

If you have any questions about the redevelopment of Ashtree Close, please give us a call.

As soon as we have more information, we will be in touch directly with those tenants in the area.
