Biodiversity improvement success

We have successfully completed a biodiversity improvement project at Oasis Academy, aimed at benefiting its students and the local environment.
This initiative, supported by funding from Ashbridge Roofing, utilised recycled and upcycled materials to create a sustainable and enriching outdoor space.
The work included the following:
- Made bath ponds surrounded by pollinating plants, climbers and three solitary bee nests
- Erected over 40 metres of guttering and eight water butts to provide a water source
- Dug over and planted vegetables in raised planters that were also painted
- Put up 10 bird boxes, eight butterfly houses, two hedgehog houses and two bug hotels Planted over 100 trees (free from the Woodland Trust), 35 photinia Red Robin shrubs and over 1,500 daffodil bulbs
- Constructed two compost bins out of recycled pallets
- Built a wooden pergola
- Donated watering can
This project not only enhances the school’s outdoor environment but also provides educational opportunities for students to learn about biodiversity and sustainability.
The efforts of our colleagues and the support from Ashbridge Roofing demonstrate a commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable future for the community.
